Cruelly denied the sweet taste of success this afternoon, the equally sweet 'Lady Nectar' ran a stormer at Beverley to be second beaten a short-head. Despite being drawn 'in the car park' in stall 15 at a track at which low draws are notoriously favourable, her jockey - the excellent Hollie Doyle - tucked her in towards the inside in a bid to 'get her home and obtain the best possible position'. However, the wide draw was not the only factor to overcome. The two girls found themselves with the door slammed firmly in their faces at an integral point in the race, just as they were looking to pick off one or two of their rivals. Hollie found a gap with mere metres to go, with the filly stretching out willingly and closing on the leader markedly in the dying strides, only to be denied victory by a small margain - see video below!
