"Let them eat cake" is the traditional translation of the French phrase "Qu'ils mangent de la brioche", supposedly spoken by "a great princess" upon learning that the peasants had no bread. ... While the phrase is commonly attributed to Queen Marie Antoinette, there is no record of her having said it. At Sun Hill the idea of anyone telling any of us to “eat cake” is mana from heaven, even if it does mean some poor sod has taken a tumble!

Chief cake baker “Laura” has changed things somewhat because she is kind enough to bake for everyone anyway, although when one filly decided to get rid of James the other day (James rarely hits the ground) the so called ‘fairy cake’ that landed on the tack room table was the bought variety and not a patch on Laura’s offerings.

Arnold- Red cap

The few runners we have had so far have given us mixed results for a variety of reasons, Fridays boo ran too free because she is too fresh, Heartstring has an issue we are desperately trying to solve but she certainly isn’t ‘right’. Uncle Charlie ran a blinder at Thirsk from a poor draw on Saturday and Arnold didn’t have his much needed cover today at Hamilton. That said, all of them are multiple winners with ten wins between them but none have won off their current handicap marks.
